About the Role
This role leads a mechanical engineering team at an established consulting firm, overseeing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design across multiple projects while mentoring engineers and stepping into departmental leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
- Oversee mechanical HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems across all project phases.
- Act as the main mechanical point of contact across multiple concurrent projects.
- Support business development and contribute to proposal writing.
- Conduct construction administration tasks, including shop drawing reviews and site visits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required; must obtain Iowa PE licensure upon hire if licensed elsewhere.
- 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical systems design and consulting.
- Strong background in HVAC load calculations, layout, and equipment selection.
- Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD preferred.
