About the Role
This role manages a caseload of complex medical malpractice claims from an Orange County office, handling investigation, evaluation, and resolution while mentoring junior claims staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage medical malpractice claims, including direction of defense counsel, per internal claims guidelines.
- Investigate and evaluate claim files, including reviewing medical records and interviewing members.
- Prepare case evaluation reports for internal review committees.
- Manage litigation activity, including discovery planning, mediation, and negotiation.
- Maintain accurate, timely records in the claims database.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
- Relevant legal and/or medical education background or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of medical malpractice claims management experience, or 3 years of claims experience.
- Direct medical malpractice claims management experience required (claims billing experience alone is not a fit).
